Perimenopause & Menopause Mental Health
The reproductive journey doesn’t end after the childbearing years. Perimenopause and menopause can bring significant hormonal, emotional, cognitive, relationship, and identity changes—sometimes during an already demanding stage of life.

Recognizing The Need for Support
You don't have to wait until you're in crisis—or meet a certain number of symptoms—to reach out for counseling.
Consider seeking additional support if emotional changes are persistent, distressing, interfering with daily life or relationships, or simply leaving you feeling unlike yourself. Some signs may include:
Sadness or frequent crying • anxiety or excessive worry • irritability or rage • feeling overwhelmed • hopelessness or helplessness • withdrawing from others • changes in sleep or appetite • racing thoughts • panic • difficulty concentrating • loss of interest or motivation • numbness • grief • intrusive thoughts • difficulty connecting with others • relationship or work difficulties • avoidance • nightmares or flashbacks • feelings of guilt or inadequacy • or difficulty adjusting to changes in your body, identity, relationships, or stage of life.
You don't have to figure out on your own whether what you're experiencing is “bad enough” for therapy. If something doesn't feel like you, it's okay to reach out.
